Medical spas provide a combination of treatments – many of those found in a traditional day spa, as well as others that require the services of a trained medical professional.

A medical spa must be affiliated with, run, or be overseen by a licensed medical physician. Not every procedure available at a medical spa has to be done by a doctor, but they need to be under the supervision of the doctor.

Typical procedures available only at a medical spa include laser and intense light treatments, injectables (like Juvéderm and BOTOX® Cosmetic), and chemical peels.
